Women’s Month 2024: Restaurants Offering Deals for International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day

Is it just me or was February really long this year? Maybe that’s the special charm of the leap year, but whatever the case, I’m glad it’s over because I got tired of hating on all the love in the air. March is here and now we get to celebrate the beauty of womanhood, in all its forms, and motherhood.

It seems like aside from the numerous seminars and forums, the actual celebration part still isn’t embraced as much by the Lagos dining scene. Still, we were able to find a few deals for both International Women’s Day (IWD) and Mothering Sunday.

EbonyLife Place: Turaka Rooftop Restaurant, Jinja and Jinja Garden

Where: EbonyLife Place, Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Victoria Island

EbonyLife Place’s various restaurants are offering deals for both IWD and Mothering Sunday.

For Nigerian-fusion cuisine and superior views from the rooftop, head over to Turaka on March 8 with the girls and enjoy free cocktails and mocktails with your meals. And on March 10, families can treat their mothers to a free meal worth N10,000 when they spend at least N45,000. (Read our Turaka review here)

At Jinja, their Asian fusion restaurant, women can treat themselves to free desserts after spending a minimum of N35,000 on IWD. For Mothering Sunday, mothers can enjoy a 2-course meal and glass of wine at a fixed price of N29,500.

Jinja Gardens’ IWD deal is better suited to the girls who are looking for a fun night out. On March 8, you can put on your best karaoke show by the pool and enjoy a 10% discount on all meals and drinks for groups of 5 or more. Btw, Jinja Gardens makes a really mean pizza, so I’d definitely recommend.

The House

Where: 4, AJ Marinho Drive, Victoria Island

For some quality bonding time, you can partake in The House’s sip and paint event either on the 10th or 17th of this month. The ‘Canvas Connection’ event package includes the painting materials, a welcome drink and a snack of your choosing, all for just N20,000 per head. Check out our 2019 review of The House here.

The Terrace Lagos

Where: 23B, Kunle Ogungba Street, Lekki Phase One, Lekki

The Terrace, another rooftop restaurant, has a more expansive lineup of bonding activities for Mother’s Day and beyond. Between the 10th and 28th, you can engage in a sip and paint activity or even gardening with your mother—or children. Plus, there’ll be Happy Hour deals on drinks from 5-8 PM.

Oh and before then, they’ll be hosting the International Women’s Day edition of ‘Whiskey With the Girls’, where there’ll be bottomless cocktails at N15k per head, good meals, a free henna session and networking. Sounds like a good time to me!

Smalliez Diner

Where: 181b Moshood Olugbani, Victoria Island

Smalliez Diner, an all-day brunch spot, is offering a special menu including complimentary mimosas for mothers from March 8 to March 10. Ps, I documented the great time I had there around this time last year here, before a tonne of worrisome reviews came out. BUT, I think they may have redeemed themselves since then. If you’re brave enough to visit and find out for yourself, prepare to spend about 35-40k per head for a proper meal.

Atije

Where: somewhere in Victoria Island (location revealed after registering)

At Atije’s women’s lunch, tagged ‘Abiyamo’ which means mother in Yoruba, you can immerse yourself in a 4-course culinary experience for N55k per head. The Nigerian fusion meals will come with juice or wine pairings. You'll also get to hear from and network with some impressive female personalities in entertainment and business.

Ps, we're big fans of Atije's founder, Chef Moyo, as you'll see here.

Gaby Lagos

Where: 6A Agoro Odiyan Street, Victoria Island

On the 9th of March, Gaby Lagos, a Mediterranean restaurant, is hosting a Mother’s Day Brunch and Pop-Up Shop in collaboration with Gaia Africa. After having your fill of delectable meals and complimentary drinks from Gaby's fixed brunch menu, you'll be able to shop from various women-centred brands at the curated pop-up. There'll also be live music and wellness sessions. Access to the one-of-a-kind experience costs N50k and you can get your tickets here.

Grey Matter Social Space

Where: 21C Akin Ogunlewe Road, Victoria Island

This Saturday night, ‘Women in Tech’ can unwind and get their groove on at Grey Matter Social Space. The mixer, which is brought to you in partnership with The Stack Journal, also presents the perfect opportunity for networking while sipping on Grey Matter's superb cocktails.

Nest Lagos

Where: 12, Sir Samuel Manuwa Street, Victoria Island

All month long, ladies can enjoy discounted drinks at Nest Lagos, an Afrocentric restaurant that opened its doors just last month. Their Happy Hour deal happens from 6-7 PM on Mondays to Thursdays.

Which of these restaurants will you be swinging by? Let us know in the comments.
