For the Love of Food: 10 Questions with Sisi Yemmie 🌶

In this all-new series, we’re catching up with your faves in the media, entertainment and pop culture scene to ask hard-hitting questions and discuss pressing world issues — like where to find the best suya on the Island, or whether or not fish pie should *really* be a thing, y’know?

In this quick interview, we chat with Yemisi Odusanya, aka Sisi Yemmie, the queen of food and lifestyle content, and author of multiple cookbooks. Enjoy!

EatDrinkLagos: The best thing you’ve eaten this week?

Sisi Yemmie: Mashed potatoes at a media event! 😋 It was so decadent and I’ve been thinking about it since. I want moreee.

EatDrinkLagos: Your go-to order at a restaurant?

Sisi Yemmie: It depends on the type of restaurant. It would be mashed potatoes (I really like it, as you can tell), or a spicy chicken burger, or something that looks really aesthetically pleasing for the feed because vibes.

EatDrinkLagos: Best flavour of Pringles?

Sisi Yemmie: The Paprika flavour is my favourite but the Prawn Cocktail comes close, not just because of the flavour but because it comes in a pretty pink pack 💞

EatDrinkLagos: The best pizza you’ve had in Lagos?

Sisi Yemmie: My go-to pizza is the Chicken Pie Pan Pizza from Domino’s — this is all I order 🥰 It’s thick and filling, and gives me Agege bread vibes.

EatDrinkLagos: Your one tip for eating out with kids?

Sisi Yemmie: Just go with the nuggets and chips. I try to introduce my kids to new dishes at restaurants and I always end up wasting money and ordering the chicken and chips, LMAO.

EatDrinkLagos: Trivia — if you ordered an Omelet Arnold Bennett, what fish would be in it? (No googling!)

Sisi Yemmie: Wetin be dat? 😂 Hmmm, wild guess… maybe salmon? (The correct answer is Haddock.)

EatDrinkLagos: Trivia — where were French fries invented? (No googling!)

Sisi Yemmie: LOL errrr French fries… France?! (The correct answer is Belgium.)

EatDrinkLagos: Jollof rice or white rice and stew?

Sisi Yemmie: It depends on the mood and the way the stew tastes tbvh, but JOLLOF usually wins!

EatDrinkLagos: Eba or fufu?

Sisi Yemmie: This is hard. These are my favourite swallows but then it depends on the soup. I’ll go with Eba as an all-rounder — she’s THAT girl 👏🏾👏🏾

EatDrinkLagos: One restaurant in Lagos that delivers on aesthetics big time?

Sisi Yemmie: So many lately. I always go back to Cactus because I like its aesthetics and it’s a family-friendly restaurant.
