Best in Lagos: Cafes to Work From

Some facts for you 🤓: The global cafe industry recorded a year-on-year growth of 8.4% in November 2021. Part of what accounts for this growth, which is expected to continue in 2022, is the increase in the number of people who prefer to work from cafes. Many of these people live and make a living in Lagos.

I’ve found that the best cafes are the ones that offer a combination of serenity, ambience and nice things to eat. If you want to work in a conducive space in Lagos, have a lovely breakfast in the city, while working hard at those daily goals, these spots are some of the best in town.

Cafe Vergnano/Double Four: Coffee, Colours and Comfort

where: The Palms Shopping Mall, Victoria Island

Cafe Vergnano is a tried-and-tested spot for anyone looking to work and enjoy a good coffee in a creative space.

With a beautiful outdoor area that can sit 30 to 50 people, a large and colourful interior space, with cushions and cane chairs, and great coffee, the Cafe Vergnano provides just the right amount of comfort you need to get work done.

Art Cafe: The Feng Shui of Remote Workers

where: 282 Akin Olugbade StREET, Victoria Island

According to the Feng Shui principle, there is no better place to get your creative juices flowing than in an atmosphere that oozes imagination. Art Cafe is a savvy French-inspired cafe with an artistic setting and soothing ambience, creating that perfect Feng Shui effect for remote workers.

This coffee shop and bar serves up delicious food, drinks and coffee, with one of the best customer service I’ve experienced in Lagos (lots of positive reviews to back this up).

Deli’s Cafe: Walk In and Work In

where: 1291 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island

Here, it’s “about the coffee life and more.” With a cosy setting and a wide variety of the most refined coffee grains, a work day at Deli’s is easy and fun.

Located above Delis Grocery Store — which you should check out, as well — like the menu reads, here, you get the “Cafe.Eatery.Winery” experience in a relatively small and intimate space, tapping away at your laptop with a great view to help keep you inspired.

La Pointe Coffee Shop: Quaint Floor with No Flaws

where: 4A Akin Olugbade Street, off Idowu Martins Street, Victoria Island

With good coffee, free Wi-Fi, a nice atmosphere, classic snacks and other edible options at your disposal, this coffee shop is another place to get work done.

As one of Nigeria’s most notable delicatessen shops, La Pointe provides a homey and cheerful space set up to look more like a restaurant than a regular coffee shop, which I love. Another thing of note is La Pointe makes a good spot for private meetings, if you ever need a space for that.

When Israel isn’t at a desk w̶r̶i̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ having fun, he’s outside having some more fun. He loves Lagos, simply because it’s Lagos and the buzz never stops, and he could never turn down an opportunity to write about the city’s wonders.
