EatDrinkFestival: How Does a Cashless Festival Work?

Last year, we had our first-ever cashless EatDrinkFestival.  Guests load money on to their wristbands and then tap their wristband to pay at vendor stands.  It worked splendidly, and so, EatDrinkAbuja was also a cashless event. That, too, was a hit and with all good things is here to stay.

Eat Drink Festival Day 1 -0053.jpg

EatDrinkFestival is cashless because it speeds things up at the Festival. No more ATM lines, faster service, and no risk of losing cash on the day. Most importantly, there will be no need to worry about “we don’t have change” or “POS is not working.”

EatDrinkFestival tickets can be purchased online ahead of the Festival, or on arrival at the event. They cost N1000, this grants you a 2019 EatDrinkFestival wristband.

What else does my ticket get me apart from the wristband?

  1. Your wristband will grant you access to the main areas of the Festival on both days. You can access the food vendors, the sessions on the main stage, music performances, and interactive experiences from our sponsors.

  2. Your ticket does not grant you access to the following areas:

    1. Workshops: You must have a pass to the workshop and a Festival ticket.

    2. Access to Sterling VIP lounge is invite-only.

Sounds fantastic. Now, how do I add money to my wristband?

  • On-Site

You can add funds to your wristband at any of the top-up stations at EatDrinkFestival. At the top up station, you can pay with cash, POS, USSD, or QR. The amount you paid will be loaded on to your wristband and you can go around and spend with confidence.

  • Online

We will also have an online portal where you can load funds on to your wristband with your debit card. Yes, you can even do this before you arrive at EatDrinkFestival.

Next question, if I don’t spend everything can I get my money back?

Of course! Make sure you hold onto your wristband after the event (it is essential for your refund) and you can claim your refund online via the event portal from December 30th. Please note a 100 Naira refund fee applies. You must also have at least N200 left on your wristband to claim a refund.

If I buy my ticket online, can I get my wristband before the Festival?

Yes! We are pleased to announce two pick-up locations for guests who purchase their tickets online and would like to pick up their wristbands ahead of the event.

Very Important Notices

1. Ticket sales are not available at the pick-up locations, only pick-ups for wristbands you have already bought online.

2. If you bought online, you can also collect your wristband at the event on arrival. It is not compulsory to pick-up before the event.

3. Tickets are non-refundable.

4. You will be charged full price if a replacement wristband is needed due to a lost wristband.

5. Wristbands that are picked up before the Festival day must be brought to the event by the ticket holder.

6. You must have the ticket confirmation email (on your phone or printed out) to pick up your wristband.
